EPD (Elektronik Paper Display)

LG baru-baru ini memperkenalkan sebuah electronic paper display (EPD) plastik pertama di dunia. Layar e-paper dengan resolusi 1.024 x 768 piksel itu, selain dapat ditekuk pada bagian sudutnya hingga 40 derajat.

EPD buatan LG tersebut diklaim akan merevolusi pasar e-book. Dengan EPD yang lebih tipis, lebih ringan, dan lebih tahan lama, membaca E-Book akan jauh lebih menyenangkan dibandingkan dengan perangkat lainnya seperti tablet dan smartphone.

Membaca e-book di EDP kemungkinan besar akan mengurangi kelelahan mata dan konsumsi listrik yang lebih efisien di samping harga yang lebih murah tentunya.

EPD plastik buatan LG ini akan disuplai pertama kali ke manufaktur di China, setelah itu EPD akan dirilis di Eropa.

Untuk kategori ultrabook, Lenovo memamerkan 4 jenis ultrabook, dari keempat ultrabook yang diluncurkan Lenovo, nampaknya Ultrabook IdeaPad Yoga yang paling banyak menarik perhatian.

Ultrabook IdeaPad Yoga adalah perangkat komputer portabel yang tipis dan ringan. Uniknya, perangkat ini juga bisa dikonversi menjadi sebuah tablet dengan melipat bagian layar.

IdeaPad Yoga memiliki layar multi-touch berukuran 13.3 inci, ketebalannya mencapai 16,9 mm dengan berat 1,47 kg. Ultrabook ini menggunakan prosesor Intel Core dengan sistem operasi Windows 8.

Ultrabook IdeaPad Yoga dibekali dengan RAM hingga 8 GB dan SSD 256 GB,  Desain dua-engsel nya memungkinkan empat posisi penggunaan: notebook, tablet, stand, dan tent – dalam satu komputer. Menurut informasi yang kami dapat, IdeaPad Yoga akan tersedia pada Semester dua tahun 2012 dengan harga mulai 1199 dollar AS atau sekitar Rp 11.990.000,- (dengan kurs USD1=Rp 10.000).

I wonder what kind of deity that I've pissed off so much to make me experience this turmoil. Is that You, God?

Remember the news about Kodak, a pioneer of camera industry that goes bankrupt back in the beginning of March? While I acknowledge that indeed, even a well-established, giant corporation can break down into tiny pieces, I never imagine that the same situation will happen to company I'm working for. Alas the reality has a cruel sense of humor to reveal the opposite. Today I receive a grave news from an illicit but accurate grapevine of how the company tries to be efficient by cutting down the number of employees, electricity and holding back some staffs and interns' salaries for three consecutive months! Somehow this news makes all nightmares that I've ever experienced in the current lifetime seem pale in comparison. After doing some digging and sniffing around, I think the blame can be put on numerous ludicrous projects that the holding company currently invests its fund into -- projects that only few investors are interested to know more simply because of the projects' size.

Yet the news isn't that unexpected. I should've known that it will come to this, what's with employees' whispers about efficiency and salary cut. The fact that some old employees resign on this March. I'm just being blind to see the surface, too lazy to connect the dots and too optimist to believe the recession rumors. Look where such attitudes get me now. 

And so I feel remorseful.

On Set

Booked a Hertz industrial that was shot only 5 minutes from where I live. There were only 3 of us in the cast, and the crew was also small and pleasant. My scenes were over in 3 hours but I still get paid for a full day which is lovely.
