Kane Boklaschuk always wanted to play for the University of Calgary. He will get to achieve that goal in 2017.
The University of Calgary football Dinos confirmed the signing of the running back Kane Boklaschuk to a Canadian Interuniversity Sport Letter of Intent for 2017.
A 6’2”, 210 lbs. all purpose back Kane is a three year starter at running back and linebacker with perennial power Cochrane Cobras of the Rockyview Football League that surrounds rural area around Calgary.
“Calgary is close to home and I always wanted to play for the Dinos,” stated Boklaschuk who was coached by former University of Calgary Dinos quarterback Rob McNab winning a pair of Alberta Provincial 3A football championships. He joins fellow Cochrane Cobra graduates Michael Scott (offensive lineman) and Eric Nusl (receiver) both of who joined the Dinos in 2016.
“Kane is another outstanding graduate from the Cochrane High School program. He is a big fullback that will fit into our system. He is a big bruising back that get you short yardage plays,” states University of Calgary Head football coach Wayne Harris.
Kane is the son of Garry and Linore Boklaschuk and hopes to study Economics at the University of Calgary.
Boklaschuk played his minor football for the Cochrane Lions program.
