Britain bound: Dannii Minogue carries her son Ethan as she checks in for her flight to London at Melbourne airport

Following months of uncertainty, Dannii Minogue is jetting back to Britain to find out her future on The X Factor.

After spending the year so far at home in Melbourne with partner Kris Smith, the 39-year-old arrived in London todaywith their nine-month-old Ethan.

Looking fresh-faced and comfy ahead of the 24-hour flight to Heathrow, Dannii cuddled her adorable blond-haired boy at the check-in counter at Melbourne's Tullamarine airport.

Unsurprisingly, Dannii is making sure her little boy is just as stylish as his mother by dressing him in a Ralph Lauren baby coat.

If Dannii does sign on the dotted line for her fifth series as a judge, it means it will be a long time before she's back in Oz.

Auditions for the eighth series are scheduled to begin in May - but without Simon Cowell or Cheryl Cole.

It is yet to be confirmed whether Dannii or Louis Walsh will be back for the new series, hence her visit to the UK to talk to the show's producers.

If she does return, Dannii will be hoping to repeat her success after her act Matt Cardle won last year's show.

Clearly excited about returning to London after four months Down Under, Dannii tweeted: 'Hear the weather is hot in the UK?... Winging it back to London.'

During her stay, the judge is planning to bring her son Ethan to watch his auntie Kylie on stage at London's O2 Arena.

Kylie is performing tonight and Tuesday, before bringing the Aphrodite: Les Folies tour to Japan later this month.

Dannii tweeted: 'Hmmm what does one wear to an Aphrodite show in London!
'Ethan has his headphones ready.'

No doubt Minogue won't be missing the typically changeable autumn weather in Melbourne, which has 14C temperatures and heavy rain forecast for the remainder of the week.

The family have been staying at their £1million home at the upmarket Melbourne suburb of East Hawthorn since The X Factor wrapped in December.
