No Venus! Another Williams sister fashion disaster as tennis player wears ghastly playsuit at Wimbledon

By JESSICA SATHERLEY and LAUREN PAXMAN

Tiny playsuit: Venus Williams wore a thigh-skinning playsuit - with a curiously baggy top half for her first Wimbledon game today

Venus and her sister Serena have so much in common. They are both world class tennis players... and they both have terrible fashion sense.

The older Williams sister cruised through her Court Two match against Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova this morning, but it was her tiny playsuit - rather than her powerful serve - that everyone was talking about afterwards.

The white onesie was so short you could clearly see the golden hotpants she was wearing underneath every time she bent forwards during the match.

Short shorts: The back of the playsuit was featured an on-tend cutaway, but one that is much more suited to black tie evening wear than to a sporting event

It also had a curiously baggy, and very unflattering top-half, which made her chest look saggy as she ran around the court.

But far from being something a sponsor forced the player to wear, this was an outfit from Venus' own clothing line, EleVen.

The back of the playsuit featured an on-tend cutaway, albeit one that is much more suited to black tie evening wear than to a sporting event.

In action: Venus' outfit showed off her enviable figure - and the gold hot pants she was wearing underneath

Venus did not get everything wrong though - the cotton material had a pretty leafy design woven into it which could have made a lovely sun dress.

The short cut also showed off the tennis star's enviably long legs as she took huge strides towards the net. And the strange outfit clearly did not hold the 31-year-old back, she won her sets 6-3, 6-1.

Cut above: Another view of the outfit from the rear

Yesterday, Venus' little sister, Serena, made her return to Wimbledon following a serious foot injury and blood clots in her lungs that almost ruled her out of tennis for life.

She made sure to stand out in fit form during warm ups by wearing some skin-tight pink and white tie-dye leggings.

And by the looks of the fiery stare in her eye, the US player about to give it her all during her comeback.

Serena, who is a fan of flamboyant on-court ensembles, combined her Nike leggings with a white long-sleeved T-shirt and a Nike black cap.

On-court ensemble: Serena brightened up the court during her warm ups by wearing the tie-dye leggings

She is currently ranked World No. 25 in women’s singles, but has admitted that her and her sister Venus haven’t been able to train as much for the competition as they would have liked.

Serena said: ‘We spent a lot more time together because we were both off.

‘We both haven’t played pretty much at all. It’s been good because, sometimes I hate to say it, but, when you’re down, it’s always good to see someone down with you.’

Letting her hair down: Serena of the USA was talking to the media at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club yesterday ahead of the Wimbledon Championships

Last year Serena won her fourth Wimbledon championship but afterwards suffered a serious foot injury from stepping on broken glass at a restaurant – preventing her from playing for the remainder of 2010.

In March this year she then suffered a hematoma and a pulmonary embolism but has still returned as the defending champion at Wimbledon this year.

While her sister Venus suffered from a hip muscle injury this year.

On top of Serena's medical complications, she may also have to face a showery start to Wimbledon.

Sisters in white: Serena and Venus both wore all-white tennis outfits while training over the weekend

Weather forecasters have predicted torrential rain for the first three days .
But tennis fans still braved the weather to camp outside the All England Lawn Tennis Club in south London last night.

Luckily for the players, officials are preparing to shut the £100million retractable roof on Centre Court, to prevent the rain interfering with the match.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, 25, of Spain will open this year’s 125th Wimbledon Championship on Centre Court.

By Daily Mail Reporter

Happy shoppers: Pink and Carey make their way to the Farmers Market where they bought a selection of edible delicacies to take home with them

She's never been one to sugar coat her words, and it would seem motherhood is no exception for chart topper, Pink.

Shedding light on her experiences as a new parent, she treated her fans to a few gory truths about her new role via Twitter on Tuesday.

Comparing her domesticated new life to her former rock star ways, Pink, 31, playfully wrote: 'My life was once whiskey, tears, and cigarettes … now it’s snot, tears, and the colour of poop. #bliss'

She later joked: 'I do miss the whiskey though :)'

Fortunately, it would seem the The Raise Your Glass singer and her husband are taking it all in their stride.

The pair took their tiny daughter out to a Farmers Market in Santa Monica yesterday and were a picture of happiness.

Playful post: Pink jokingly compared her old rock star life to her less glamorous new one as a mother on Twitter on Tuesday

Doting father, Carey Hart, 35, could barely takes his eyes off Willow as he carried her around the market, holding her close to his chest.

Meanwhile, his superstar wife strolled along beside him, laughing and joking as they browsed around the market stalls, picking up a few goodies to take home with them.

And judging from the mile wide smile on Pink's glowing face, humour could well be the key to their family's happiness, proving it will take a lot more than snot, tears and poop to get the better of them.

Family fun: Pink and Carey enjoy their relaxed day out at the Santa Monica market with their bundle of joy, Willow Sage

Playful parents: Pink shares a joke with her husband Carey Hart as they take their new daughter Willow Sage to a Farmers Market in Santa Monica yesterday

On the day of Willow's arrival, the professional motocross racer made no secret of his complete devotion to his new family.

He gleefully tweeted: 'My wife Pink owns my heart. And she just gave me my best achievement of my life … Medals and flips got nothing on her.'

Enjoying the scenery: Ricky Gervais and his long term girlfriend Jane Fallon sipped on white wine and ate lunch at a Primrose Hill cafe

With London’s temperatures soaring to 25 degrees today, it was no wonder that James Corden and Ricky Gervais wanted to enjoy the sunshine with their partners.

But they weren’t expecting to bump into each other at a Primrose Hill café, where Gervais was enjoying a bite to eat with long-term girlfriend Jane Fallon.

Corden and his fiancée Julia Carey were taking their baby son Max for a stroll in north London when they noticed the Ghost Town funnyman having a spot of lunch.

On both park days, Corden decided to wear a dark T-Shirt and knee-length shorts, while Julia pulled out a white summer dress on Friday and little white shorts today.

While Ricky also opted for a black T-shirt alongside his running shoes that he wore out to lunch.

He and his girlfriend of 29 years sipped on white wine to celebrate the early summer weather.

Meanwhile, Gervais recently told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that he doesn’t understand why people would want to watch Kate Middleton and Prince William exchange vows next week.

'Sorry, I'm busy!' King of Cambodia snubs Royal Wedding for 'something more important'

By Daily Mail Reporter

No thank you: King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia has turned down his invitation to the Royal Wedding in favour of another 'important' engagement

It may be one of history's most sought after invitations but the King of Cambodia will not attend the Royal Wedding because he has something more 'important' to do.

In an apparent snub to Prince William and his fiancée Kate Middleton, King Norodom Sihamoni turned down his invitation from the Palace for another engagement.

The Cambodian embassy was today unable to expand on the reason for the 57-year-old's refusal but sources said the King was 'sad' he could not attend the celebrations.

'The King can not come to the Royal Wedding because he has a very tight schedule,' a spokesman said.

'He has another important engagement.'

The shaven-headed former ballet dancer and instructor has been described in the past as 'very much an unknown quantity' but he is not the first Cambodian king to snub a British royal wedding.

His father Sihanouk refused to attend Princess Alexandra's wedding in 1963 after being told he would not get a guard of honour and could not stay at Windsor Castle.

King Sihamoni, who was best known for his work as a cultural ambassador in Europe before ascending the throne in 2004, was among dozens of royals worldwide to have been invited to the historic event.

He is understood to be spending April 29 in his home country.

The news came as it emerged Prince William's future bride would follow in the footsteps of Princess Diana by omitting the word 'obey' from her wedding vows.
She will instead promise to 'love, comfort, honour and keep' Prince William.

Diana pledged herself to Prince Charles in a similar way during their wedding ceremony in 1981.

The couple now have exactly one week left before their marriage.

Second-in-line to the throne William, 28, has already had his last shift as an RAF Search and Rescue pilot before the ceremony. He is expected to spend the latter part of next week in London, taking part in wedding rehearsals.

Meanwhile, Miss Middleton, 29, has been spotted doing some pre-wedding shopping in the capital, amid speculation that she has been stocking up on summer outfits for her honeymoon.

Snubbed: Prince William and Kate Middleton have invited dozens of royals from around the world to their nuptials but the King of Cambodia will not be there

Perfect pins: Pippa Middleton takes night off from Royal Wedding duties at Holly Branson's engagement bash

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Night off: Pippa Middleton enjoyed a night off from her Royal Wedding duties to celebrate Holly Branson's engagement

As the maid of honour for her sister Kate she will be taking her place in history in the biggest wedding this country has seen in decades.

But just a week away from the big day and Pippa Middleton took a night off from her sisterly duties - although marriage wasn’t far from her mind as she attended the engagement party of Holly Branson last night.

The 27-year-old arrived at the Kensington Roof Gardens to celebrate the engagement of Sir Richard Branson’s daughter to her shipbroker beau Fred Andrews.

Pippa looked elegant in a tiered peach dress with a smart black jacket and had an impressive tan as she showed off her slim and toned legs.

And in keeping with her role as the sister of the Royal bride-to-be she left the bash looking extremely composed and fresh-faced.

If she is feeling the pressure for the big day next week she didn’t let it show appearing happy and relaxed.

While Pippa is busying herself with her sister’s wedding and celebrating her friend’s planned nuptials, she is rarely seen with her boyfriend Alex Loudon.

The couple were said to have started dating just before Christmas and former England cricketer Alex is said to be an old friend of William's.

Keeping composed: While Pippa took a night off from her maid of honour duties she left the bash at Kensington Roof Gardens looked bright-eyed

No nerves? Pippa appeared happy and relaxed and she showed off her fabulous figure in a peach tiered dress and a smart black jacket

The pair were at Eton together and Alex, like William, was in Pop, the school prefects' society.

Pippa, who used to date Hong Kong banking heir J. J. Jardine Patterson, was once voted the sexiest singleton in London by Tatler magazine.

There has been speculation that her budding romance with the cricketer, who played for Kent and Warwickshire, will mean he'll be a guest at the wedding next week.

A friend said: ‘He’s absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and Pippa is very smitten. He stopped playing county cricket in 2007 to go into the City, but he’s still a great athlete and a really good chap.’

The other bride-to-be: Holly Branson and her fiance Fred Andrews looked extremely contented as they posed for pictures outside their engagement party

Bride-to-be Holly looked stunning in a shimmering floor-length gown which she accessorised with a simple matching clutch.

And onlookers were treated to a glimpse of her huge pink sapphire and diamond engagement ring which appeared to have been the influence for her outfit as she posed for pictures with her fiancé.

Proud father Sir Richard was seen smiling broadly while Holly’s brother Sam looked dapper in a suit with a red shirt and black tie.

Princess Beatrice and nightclub owner Guy Pelly were also in attendance at the engagement bash and the whole group will be meeting up next week at the Royal Wedding.

Not wearing a Lott: Pixie keeps things brief in skimpy dresses as she launches new fashion range

By JODY THOMPSON

Short and sweet: Pixie Lott launched her latest collection for fashion label Lipsy in London last night in her own designs

She's always loved dressed up in something fun and flirty so it was only natural for singer Pixie Lott to launch her own fashion line with favourite of the stars Lipsy.

The 20-year-old singer premiered her latest range at a glitzy party in London last night - and wore something suitably floaty and floral.

The star launched her first collection for the label last year and said that she loves the fact that she sees her peers out and about in her designs

Party princess: The star of the evening then changed into a brightly coloured strapless minidress from her collection

She said: 'I love it, and I think it's cool to see celebrities showing support towards celebrity clothing lines'.

Pixie had a quick change mid-party so she modelled two of her own outfits, one, a supremely skimpy floral number, which she teamed with tan brogues, and an brightly-coloured abstract print strapless number which she wore with neon blue wedge sandals.

The Mama Do and Cry Me Out star had previously said that her dream models would be movie stars Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts.

Star support: 90210 actress Jessica Lowndes was in town for the party and wore one of Pixie's frocks

But sadly, even though Cameron was in town, she didn't pop along to Pixie's party.

Pixie said last year: ' I'd feel very lucky if anyone wore any of my designs. But I don't know. If we're talking anyone, someone like Julia Roberts or Cameron Diaz.

'That'd be so weird and funny. Cameron wearing my dress at the Oscars - that'd be so funny.'

Future's bright: Pixie was wearing orange shorts when she arrived back in London from Los Angeles on Wednesday after two months out there
