Culture of Aceh
Aceh, which had previously been called by the name of Aceh (1959-2001) and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (2001-2009) is a province in Indonesia and is the most western province in Indonesia. Aceh has autonomy regulated separately, in contrast to most other provinces in Indonesia, due to historical reasons. The area is bordered by the Bay of Bengal in the north, the Indian Ocean to the west, the Strait of Malacca in the east, and North Sumatra in the southeast and south.
The capital of Aceh is Banda Aceh. Ports is Malahayati-Krueng Raya, Ulee Lheue, Sabang, Lhokseumawe and Langsa. Aceh was the region worst hit by the earthquake and tsunami of 26 December 2004. Acehnese constituted the majority inhabiting the coastal areas of Aceh. Acehnese people who inhabit the West Aceh and South Aceh there is little cultural differences that appear to her heavily influenced by the style of Minangkabau culture. Culture Aceh strongly influenced by Islamic culture. Dance, crafts, ornaments, customs, and others are all rooted in Islamic values. Examples of decorative Aceh, for example, many take the form of plants such as stems, leaves, and flowers or shape of natural objects such as clouds, moon, stars, waves, and so forth. This is because according to Islamic teachings is not justified presenting the human form or animals as decoration.
Aceh is very long at war and the impact is very bad for the existence of culture. Many parts of the culture that has been forgotten and objects of high quality craft to be reduced or lost.
