They were seen cuddling at the cricket earlier this month putting paid to rumours that their relationship was on the rocks.



And last night Pippa Middleton and her boyfriend Alex Loudon enjoyed an evening partying at Public nightclub.



The pair emerged from the hotspot, favoured by young royals Prince Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, at 1.30am via the back door.

The couple climbed into a black cab and headed for home after enjoying an evening at Prince Harry's friend Guy Pelly’s club.



Pippa was dressed in a black pencil skirt and a grey printed blouse as she emerged from the nightclub.



And flying the flag for British fashion Pippa stepped out in a light grey cropped leather jacket by designer Sara Berman, with trademark studded collar and cuffs.



Eton-educated Alex was dressed in a pair of cream corduroy trousers, a white checked shirt and a blue V-neck jumper.

The couple have been quick to dispel rumours of a split when earlier this month Pippa, nicknamed Her Royal Hotness after her role as maid of honour at her sister Catherine’s wedding to Prince William in April, was on hand to support her beau at a cricket match.



Pippa, bagged herself a prime spot on the field at the London Shenley Club in Hertfordshire, and was seen talking to players and waiting to greet her boyfriend with a loving post-match embrace.

The English graduate has become a style icon since her sister's wedding.

Meanwhile troubled actress Lindsay Lohan also copied Miss Middleton by wearing the same Alice Temperley gown that Pippa wore at the Royal wedding reception, to attend Kim’s wedding last weekend.



The actress chose white for the black and white themed nuptuals.

There's nothing more depressing than flicking through your holiday photos, only to find your happy memories marred by how overweight you look in them. Here, three women inspired to shape up after seeing themselves in their holiday snaps share their stories...



Anna Shephard, 29, is a primary school teacher from Dulwich, South London. She is married to Junior, 28, a mature student. Previously a size 22, now a size 8-10, she says:



As a child, I was big. I ate a lot, and my bad eating habits continued into adulthood. Typically, I’d have two burger and fries meals from Burger King for lunch — and maybe a family-sized bag of Maltesers after dinner.





Ashamed of her size: Sonia was 15st, right, but is much happier now she's 11st and can fit into dress size 12





Sonia Coles, 41, is a teaching assistant from Banbury, Oxfordshire. She is married to Stephen, 50, a caretaker, with two children, Louis, 16, and Samuel, 12. Previously a size 20, now a size 12, she says:



Before I went on holiday to Spain in 2008, I was so ashamed of my size that I didn’t even try on my new one-piece swimsuit. I was a size 18 and couldn’t bear to look in the mirror; I didn’t want to confront the reality of how I looked. We had booked into a lovely apartment complex in Salou, which was full of lots of other British families. By the pool, I was so conscious of my wobbly flesh that I hid inside a towel. Most of the women were slim — and their gorgeous figures were a painful symbol of what I could never be.

Angela Sweeter, 60, is a hairdresser from Bracknell, Berkshire. She is separated and has two grown-up sons, aged 23 and 21. Previously a size 14-16, now a size 10, she says:



Last year I was going through some old photos when I found one of myself taken in Monte Carlo in 2003. The photo shows me standing on the balcony of my hotel, with my tummy so swollen, I looked pregnant. There’s no smile on my face, no sense I was enjoying myself. What struck me was that nothing about my appearance had changed in the seven years since that photo had been taken. I was still the same size — 12st and a size 14-16.

Gentlemen DON'T prefer blondes: What men REALLY want is a brown-haired, blue-eyed size 14 woman

The popular saying would have us believe that gentlemen prefer blondes. But while the old adage may trip off the tongue, according to new findings, it no longer holds weight.



A study found that gentlemen, in fact, overwhelmingly prefer brunettes. The 2,000 men were polled by social network site Badoo to find out the features they find most attractive in the opposite sex.



Far from men finding blondes the most sexually attractive, the study found that more than 60 per cent said they preferred raven-haired beauties over their blonde counterparts.





A third of all those polled - 33.1 per cent - said they find brown hair the most attractive, while 28.6 said they liked black - making up a total of 59.7 per cent over all preferring dark-haired girls.



Those gentlemen who indeed do prefer blondes made up just 29.5 per cent of the vote, while redheads came in as the least popular with men, taking just 8.8 per cent of the vote.



There was also excellent news for women shackled to a life of constant dieting by the misguided notion that men prefer women with a model-like physique.



Actually, the largest majority - 38.8 per cent of guys - looked for an 'average' dress size of 12 to 14 in their perfect woman, with only 10 per cent looking for a size 6 to 8.



Women with a 'curvy' dress size of 14 to 18 came in as the second most popular size - roof indeed that while magazines fill their pages with skinny models, UK males actually prefer a more rounded build.



Unsurprisingly though, men do have a limit. To be too curvy was deemed unpopular, with only 4.2 per cent expressing a preference for women size 18 plus.

When it comes to eye colour though, the dark side was trounced by the light, with a massive 40.2 of men preferring blue eyes over any other colour.



Brown eyes came second with 29.2 per cent, green 17.5 per cent and hazel 13.1 per cent.



The attributes add up to make TOWIE's Lauren Goodger the image of the nation's ideal woman, with her 'average' figure, brown hair and blue eyes.

Actress Megan Fox also fits the bill, while Angelina Jolie, with her light eyes and brown hair wins the hearts of many men - though according to the figures, she would lose favour for her very slim physique.



Badoo also ran the study in France, Spain, Italy, U.S. and Brazil, with surprising results.



Only the French said they preferred their woman skinny, with all others saying they prefer their women curvy, with a dress size from 12-14.



Shockingly, not one of the countries surveyed expressed blonde as their favourite hair colour. In all of the countries surveyed, black was the most popular hair colour, with the exception the UK, where men preferred brown.



The UK was also the only country that opted for blue eyes as the ideal colour, with brown and green topping the table around the world.





Lloyd Price, from Badoo, said, 'I was amazed that blonde hair and size 8 did not top the list.



'Magazines are full of skinny blonde models, so it is nice to see that in reality guys prefer the girl next door look.



Lauren Goodger's boyfriend Mark Wright is clearly a lucky man in the eyes on the nation.'

'The former Miss Universe had plastic surgery': Beauty queen sparks row ahead of contest

As we approach this year's Miss Universe competition in Brazil, the claws are out in true beauty pageant style.



Miss Australia, Scherri-Lee Biggs who reportedly accused her predecessor, Jennifer Hawkins, 27, of indulging in 'too much' plastic surgery last week, is now desperately trying to get in touch with Hawkins' management to apologize.



Biggs, 20, who recently arrived in Sao Paulo for the international contest revealed that she thought Hawkins - who claimed the Miss Universe crown in 2004 - had gone 'that little bit too far' to achieve perfection.

Now Biggs, a model and communications student from Perth is trying to avoid any bitter feeling posting via Twitter that her words were taken 'taken completely out of context'.



She Tweeted: 'I just wanted to apologise to Jen Hawkins about today's article. I never said that about her... and words were put in my mouth.



'I think Jen's an amazing, beautiful woman and I look up to her. I feel horrible... and am currently trying to get in contact with her management.'



Joining Biggs in her criticism is the 2009 Australian representative Rachael Finch, who also agrees that Hawkins' face has 'changed' since becoming one of the nation's highest paid models seven years ago.

'I'm not completely against plastic surgery, I think that everyone makes their own personal decision, but I do believe Sherri-Lee is right when she says that natural beauty is best.



'[Jennifer] denied [surgery], so maybe she hasn't, but I love what she looks like in a picture in 2004. Whether it might be weight loss or changes in the face in maturity, whatever it is, it looks so beautiful and fresh in 2004.' She told the Herald Sun.



Miss Universe openly accepts contestants who have had cosmetic and plastic surgery and over the years it has been a topic hotly debated.



Last year's winner Ximena Navarrette of Mexico claimed to be plastic surgery free putting her looks down to lots of exercise, but revealed that she wasn't against surgical enhancement, saying: 'I am for plastic surgery. But I haven’t gotten any.'



Jennifer Hawkins - currently based in Sydney - has denied previous reports that she has gone under the knife and her management has refused to comment.



In reaction she said: 'I just eat healthy and I exercise a lot. Women get better with age, because they are more confident with themselves. It's all about make-up and health.'



Biggs will battle against 88 other hopefuls in the international Miss Universe final which kicks off on September 12 meanwhile Hawkins is planning her wedding to model Jake Wall.

This heart-wrenching photo shows how a Navy SEAL’s dog refused to leave his master’s side during an emotional funeral.



Petty Officer Jon Tumilson, 35, killed in the major U.S. helicopter crash in Afghanistan this month, was remembered by around 1,500 mourners.



But it was his Labrador retriever Hawkeye that really captured the public’s emotions in the photo taken by Mr Tumilson’s cousin, Lisa Pembleton.



Man's best friend: Mr Tumilson's family members followed Hawkeye into the service before he lay down





Mr Tumilson, of San Diego, California, was one of 38 killed on August 6 when a rocket-propelled grenade took out a U.S. Chinook helicopter.



His funeral was held on Friday in his hometown of Rockford, Iowa, at the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community School.



Ms Pembleton said: ‘I felt compelled to take one photo to share with family members that couldn't make it or couldn't see what I could from the aisle.



'To say that he was an amazing man doesn't do him justice. The loss of Jon to his family, military family and friends is immeasurable.'

Family, friends and servicemen, along with Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and U.S. Senator Charles Grassley, packed the school's gymnasium.



Mr Tumilson, who joined the Navy in 1995, was known to friends as J.T.



‘J.T. was going to be a Navy SEAL come hell or high water,’ friend Scott Nichols said. ‘He wasn't afraid of dying.’

‘Your dreams were big and seemed impossible to nearly everyone on the outside,’ she said. ‘I always knew you'd somehow do what you wanted.’



Family members followed Hawkeye into the service. Mr Tumilson is survived by two sisters and his parents, George and Kathleen.

A huge earthquake ripped through the East Coast of America this afternoon, causing terrifying tremors from Washington D.C. to New York.



Buildings in the major cities throughout the north east - including the Pentagon and the White House - had to be evacuated with the 5.8 magnitude earthquake, which originated in Virginia, shaking areas from as far north as Toronto, Canada, and as far south as Anderson in South Carolina.



In Virginia there were reports of damage caused by the quake, while the streets of downtown Washington and New York were filled with thousands of people hauled out of buildings for fear they could collapse.



There were also fears of a nuclear disaster of the kind seen in Japan's Fukushima because the epicentre was just a few miles from two nuclear power plants.

Federal officials said two nuclear reactors at the North Anna Power Station in Louisa County, Virginia, were automatically taken off line by safety systems.



At the Pentagon, it has been reported that staff ran from the building fearing they were under attack.



The 5.9-magnitude tremor struck at about 2pm local time with shallow tremors of about 3.7 miles deep, which is thought to explain why the shaking was so widespread.



The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was half a mile deep and centred near Louisa, Virginia, about 40 miles north west of Richmond.

It is though to have been the strongest quake to hit the Virginia area since 1897.



The previous record for an earthquake in the Washington, D.C. area was on July 16, 2010, when a 3.6 magnitude struck.



'This is one of the largest earthquakes on the east coast in quite a while, in many decades at least,' USGS spokeswoman Lucy Jones told CNN.



Tremors were also felt as far north as New York City and Martha's Vineyard, where President Obama is vacationing.

According to reports, he had just been starting a round of golf when the floor moved underneath him.



The Capitol Building and the Pentagon were among buildings evacuated after the quake struck.



Pictures hanging on the walls at the Capitol reportedly fell to the floor from the shocks.



US aviation authorities halted flights at several airports after the shake was felt.



'We're getting a lot of calls on buildings shaking but there's no report of any structural damage at this time,' a spokesman for the New York City Fire Department said.



Buildings in Boston were evacuated, while witnesses said the quake was felt as far away as Toronto.



Paul Badger said he was sitting in his office in Troutman, North Carolina, when the earthquake hit.



'I could feel my chair slowly rocking back and forth and see my computer monitors rocking slightly,' he told the Charlotte Observer.



Another resident told the newspaper that dishes and plates in his house shook.



Control towers at John F. Kennedy and Newark Liberty International airports were also evacuated.



Andre Smith-Pugh, 25, felt the shaking from the top of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.



'It felt like the scaffolding was coming down,' he told the New York Times. 'It felt like a big truck slammed into the side of the building right here at the White House.'



In New York, many office buildings were evacuated. 'Our townhouse started shaking a short time ago and branches started to fall off trees and hit our windows and hit our roof like crazy,' Bill Parks, from Hummelstown, said.

'It lasted about 10 seconds and was as bad as the Northridge after shock I had experienced while visiting in California. I ran outdoors and found my neighbour calling a friend in Virginia who also felt the profound quake. This quake was like none I ever experienced in the East in my life and I am 76 years old.'



Thomas McGarry, 55, has run a small convenience store kiosk above subway tracks right in front of New York city hall for the last year and a half.



He told MailOnline he was in the kiosk when the quake hit.



'We all looked at each other. I thought the floor was going to cave in,' he said.

He added that it wasn't long before workers at the government buildings on Broadway poured into the street.



'They were flooding out, like on 9/11. We couldn't even get out of the shop to look because we were surrounded.'



Flora Gross, also 55, was working on the fourth floor of a federal office building on church street, just down the street from ground zero, when she felt the tremors.

'We thought it was construction,' she said. 'But then my daughter called from uptown and said: 'Mummy we just had an earthquake.'



Her husband, who works as a maintenance worker uptown, told her he was on a ladder when the quake hit. 'He thought his legs were giving out before realising the whole building was shaking,' she said.



In Mineral, Virginia, which is four miles from the quake’s centre, residents said there had been extensive damage, with pictures falling off walls and crockery smashing from shelves.

In Charleston, West Virginia, hundreds of workers left the state Capitol building and employees at other downtown office buildings were asked to leave.



‘The whole building shook,’ said Jennifer Bundy, a spokeswoman for the state Supreme Court. ‘You could feel two different shakes. Everybody just kind of came out on their own.’



In Connecticut, play was stopped during a tennis match at the New Haven Open after the stadium on the Yale campus shook.



The umpire stopped the game between Jelena Jankovic of Serbia and Elena Vesnina of Russia after spectators felt three waves of shaking and water bottles sloshed back and forth.



According to reports, tremors were felt as far away as Toronto, Canada.



On King Street West in Toronto, office workers evacuated buildings. One, named Amanda, told the Toronto News her whole office rolled.



'It was very unnerving,' she said. 'I have no words.'



Social networking site Twitter lit up with reports of the earthquake from people using the site up and down the U.S. eastern seaboard.



‘People pouring out of buildings and onto the sidewalks and Into Farragut Park in downtown DC...,’ tweeted Republican strategist Kevin Madden.



Missouri senator Claire McCaskill tweeted that her staff in Washington was in an ‘emergency location. Hope everyone is OK.’

John Gurlach, air traffic controller at the Morgantown Municipal Airport was in a 40-foot-tall tower when the earth trembled.



‘There were two of us looking at each other saying, “What's that?”’ he said, even as a commuter plane was landing. ‘It was noticeably shaking. It felt like a B-52 unloading.’



Not everyone, however, was quite so terrified by the tremors. On Wall Street traders could be heard shouting: 'Carry on trading!' despite the shaking.

No injuries were immediately reported.
