Day 291: Coaching & Audition

Day 291: I had a coaching session with my acting teacher DaJuan Johnson followed by the audition itself- a lead role for a webseries called Luck & Baby Dust. The CD actually recognized me from DWP which was kinda cool, ok really cool.

Day 279 - 281: Prep & shooting episode 6

Day 279 - Day 280: Tied up loose ends for last minute stuff needed for our upcoming DWP shoot. Greg & Lex saved me a huge amount of time and headspace by handling craft services so I was able to focus on simply acting for once.

Day 281: We shot most of episode 6 of DWP today and it was an awesome shoot! Everything literally went as good or better than expected and I couldn't be happier. Here are a few stills from our shoot...

 

 

 

 

I think it's safe to say there was a LOT of laughter on set which is why I love working with these people. And by the way, that invitation was GORGEOUS! Made me wish I was planning a wedding with a real bride who would be sending it to her guests.

Still have one more scene left that we'll take care of next week and then episode 6 will be wrapped.

Day 256: Coffee Date & a Booking!!

Day 256: Coffee with Issa Rae, the creator of the webseries Awkward Black Girl. She gave me some great marketing tips that I plan to use to promote DWP after we finish these last 3 episodes. I also told her about the Mitrice documentary and she was more than willing to help put the word out when we start our fundraising campaign.

Even better news is I FINALLY BOOKED SOMETHING!!! YIPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!

I booked the Epson industrial shoot and we filmed it today. It was a small cast & crew and a nice easy gig. Hopefully more to come before the year is up.

Day 218: Webseries Audition

Day 218: Audition at CAZT- lead role in a comedic webseries and my freaking alarm goes off right in the middle of it. Yes I made sure to turn my phone on silent before we began however I forgot to check the alarm which will ring no matter what mode your phone is on. Definitely won't make that mistake again! 

Day 212 - 217

Day 212: Internship- Felt bad for a girl who was only one of 7 people chosen to audition for this guest star role who couldn't get out of her 9 to 5 job to come in. Those golden handcuffs pay the bills but it sucks if it doesn't give you the flexibility to audition when a role like this comes along. 

Day 213: Class- Wildcard scene. I came fully prepared and rocked it out! Tonight was the best I've ever done in class and it was such an exhilarating feeling. I want more of it.

Day 214: Whittled down my target list even more based on the agents & managers whose actors are constantly called in to read at the cd's office I intern for. 

Day 215: Caught up on the rest of the episodes of Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl that I hadn't seen yet. Even if you're not awkward or black, you've gotta take a look at this series. It is HILARIOUS!!   Though it's not for you to see grandma- the language is pretty bad at times.

Day 216: Broke down my scene for class and rehearsed it throughout the weekend.

Day 217: Sent revisions to our composer Rob Gokee for the score in episode 5.

Day 178: On the page

Day 178: Finished writing the webseries pilot, woo-hoo!!! It's a dramedy tentatively titled "Now or Never." Had to trim it down just like I thought I would in order to stay within the 10 page requirements but I'm happy with the results. I sent it to a small handful of friends to get their feedback before I submit it. Gonna keep my fingers crossed that I make it to the next round and if not then I'll look for screenplay contests to submit it to or one day {long after DWP is done} I'll produce it on my own.
