Tired Victoria Beckham fails to raise a smile as she leaves her Malibu home with baby Harper

By Daily Mail Reporter

She's had a difficult time of it after slipping a disc and being unable to pick up her baby daughter Harper.

So Victoria Beckham could be forgiven for failing to raise a smile as she left her Malibu home with her little girl yesterday.

The 37-year-old star looked grumpy and tired as she was driven around by her bodyguard on Saturday.

What's wrong? Victoria Beckham failed to raise a smile as she headed out with baby Harper Seven in Malibu on Saturday

Tired mother: Victoria has been having a tough time since the birth of her daughter with a back injury blighting her recovery

Going make-up free for the occasion, Victoria looked worlds away from her usual polished appearance, but showed off her post-pregnancy glow and enviably flawless skin.

Later in the day, Victoria hid her eyes behind a pair of sunglasses as she and her nanny stepped out with little Harper.

Wearing dark glasses, a plain green dress, and black cardigan Posh Spice appeared to have lost much of the baby weight she had gained before giving birth in July, appearing as slim as ever.

Flat out: Victoria and her nanny in Los Angeles with baby Harper Seven

Her nanny held Harper Seven’s baby carrier as they made their way to a business meeting.

Friends of the star said that wearing high heels in pregnancy may have led to the slipped disc.

She appeared at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton while expecting wearing towering five-inch Christian Louboutin heels.

Many doctors warn against wearing high heels in pregnancy as they can put excessive strain on the spine.

Victoria’s Caesarean – her fourth - is then thought to have placed her back under further pressure.

Now doctors have advised her that she cannot risk wearing the towering heels that have become her signature.

Since Harper’s birth, she has been resting at a home on Malibu beach, California, with footballer husband David and sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six.

Twitter: Victoria thanked her fans for their messages of support after her back injury

The house – which used to belong to film director Steven Spielberg – is being rented for £90,000 a month.

On Friday night Victoria thanked fans for their support on Twitter.

She wrote: ‘Thank u for your kind messages. I’m feeling much better and enjoying every precious minute with baby Harper. I’ m so in love. X VB.’

Victoria is expected to travel to New York – 2,400 miles away from LA – to attend fashion week there and take Harper with a nanny.

She will showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Last week David told of his pride that Victoria was breast feeding.

‘It’s so important that they have that mother daughter bond and breastfeeding, I think is really an incredible thing.

‘We’re in the process of putting it in bottles now so that means I get to feed her – which has been amazing.’

Harper Seven: Victoria may have slipped her disk wearing heels while pregnant with her daughter

Slipped discs are the popular name for a ‘herniated’ disc. This occurs when the discs - circular pads of cartilage which lie between the vertebrae, and responsible for cushioning the spine – become damaged.

Last night, a spokesman for Mrs Beckham declined to comment.

However, a close friend insisted to the Mail the medical condition had ‘nothing to do with’ the Caesarean section.

The Mail has learned that Mrs Beckham’s condition is being overseen by a number of specialists – and she currently cannot walk far, bend over or lift heavy objects.

The friends said: ‘Lots of women suffer bad backs during pregnancy for obvious reasons and Victoria’s has just got progressively worse.

‘She is seeing various specialists to help ease the pain and help increase mobility.

'She's definitely on the mend it’s just a slow process – so no walking, no bending or picking up heavy objects. She also has to have lots of rest.’

Victoria Beckham's back agony: New mother's slipped disc means she struggles to hold her baby daughter Harper

By Liz Thomas

Victoria Beckham appears to be paying the price for wearing high heels in the late stages of pregnancy.

She is in such pain from a slipped disc that she is struggling even to lift her baby daughter Harper Seven.

Friends say that the 37-year-old Spice Girl turned fashion designer slipped the disc while she was expecting, and it was exacerbated by her caesarean operation five weeks ago.

Desperate for a daughter: Victoria Beckham had longed for a daughter before Harper was born and could now become a member of the SMOGs

This has left her confined to the California beachfront house owned by Steven Spielberg which the family have rented for the summer.

'She has been pretty much housebound as she cannot really walk very much right now and she cannot bend to pick anything up,' said one source.

Mrs Beckham attended the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton when she was six months pregnant and wore vertiginous Christian Louboutin heels – long after many women would have opted for something more comfortable.

Wearing high heels, particularly in the later stages of pregnancy, can increase the risk of a slipped disc as they distort the shape of the spine and place further pressure on the lower back and neck, which are already under strain.

Gratitude: The mother-of-four thanked fans for their concern after news of her injury emerged

Mrs Beckham has barely been seen in public since giving birth and has been holed away with her family as she tries to recuperate at the £90,000-a-month Spielberg pile.

Husband David is helping her to carry the little girl and hold her while she is nursing.

She is desperately trying to get back to health in time for New York Fashion Week next month where she will showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

A spokesman said: 'Victoria has a back condition. She is resting and receiving treatment.' The couple have three sons: Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six.

Mrs Beckham worked through all her pregnancies and ignored advice to wear flat shoes.

Weight loss rumours: It had been alleged that Victoria locked herself away in order to get back in shape for New York Fashion Week next month

Big deal: Victoria is said to have gained over 1st during her pregnancy - a back complaint was allegedly aggravated during her C-section

It is estimated that one in five people in the UK will suffer a slipped disc at some point in their life.

The spine consists of 24 vertebrae stacked on top of each other. Discs are the protective, circular pads of cartilage which lie between the vertebrae and are responsible for cushioning the spine.

The discs are made from a tough, fibrous case, which contains a softer, gel-like substance. A slipped disc occurs when the outer part of the disc ruptures, allowing the gel inside to bulge and protrude between the vertebrae.

A number of health experts advise women to avoid high heels in the later stages of pregnancy.

Helping out: David Beckham has apparently been assisting Victoria while she rests her injured back

TV doctor Chris Steele, from This Morning, said: 'The pregnancy could have caused Victoria Beckham to suffer a slipped disc, as it usually occurs as a result of lifting something heavy. In this case it could simply be carrying a baby that caused the initial problem.

'But she should not have been wearing high heels if there was any back pain at all.

I have also seen her carrying rather large, heavy handbags, and this too is not good for the spine as it puts too much pressure on it.'

Lorraine Jones, from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, said women feel under pressure to wear stilettos but are risking long-term damage, as well as strains to their ankles and ligaments.

She said in a recent interview: 'High heels alter your posture, shorten your calf muscles and place increased pressure on your back and knees.'

Step out of the car: David was stopped by police today in California and was asked to pull over onto the hard shoulder

Not allowed: The family's Cadillac Escalade was stopped in Malibu as it has all-black fully tinted windows - which is illegal in California as the windscreen has to be clear

On your way: Officers gave the star a ticket and allowed him to drive back to his beachside house

The couple ran into further trouble today when police pulled over their Cadillac Escalade.

The car had all-black fully tinted windows, which is illegal in California because the windscreen has to be clear.

David got a fixable ticket and witnesses said he was visibly upset when he headed off home.

Mrs Beckham has still been talking to her fans on the social networking site Twitter and has posted updates and pictures online.

Within days of giving birth to her first daughter, she wrote: 'Baby Harper is the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen, I have fallen in love all over again!!! We all feel so blessed and the boys love their baby sister so much!!!'

Her husband has also been using Facebook to give fans family updates.

He revealed that their daughter's names were inspired partly by To Kill A Mockingbird author Harper Lee, and partly by the number 7 shirt he wore for Manchester United and England.

Victoria Beckham's back agony: New mother's slipped disc means she struggles to hold her baby daughter Harper

By Daily Mail Reporter

Victoria Beckham is suffering a plight that must be every mother's worst nightmare.

She only gave birth to daughter Harper 5 week sago, but thanks to a back injury she is currently unable to even hold her baby or leave the house without assistance.

The 37-year-old has picked up a crippling slipped disc, leaving her incapacitated and struggling to perform even the most menial duties.

Desperate for a daughter: Victoria Beckham had longed for a daughter before Harper was born and could now become a member of the SMOGs

A report in The Daily Mirror claims that Victoria had a bad back during her fourth pregnancy which became aggravated during her C-section operation.

She is now battling to get back on her feet in time for New York Fashion Week next month where she will showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

Victoria has apparently hired a team of chiropractors to assist her in regaining her fitness - which goes some way to explaining why the former Spice Girl has been absent from the public eye in recent weeks.

Weight loss rumours: It had been alleged that Victoria locked herself away in order to get back in shape for New York Fashion Week next month

Big deal: Victoria is said to have gained over 1st during her pregnancy - a back complaint was allegedly aggravated during her C-section

The source claimed: 'Rumours Victoria has been frantically exercising and trying to lose her baby weight could not be further from the truth. Victoria is in a lot of pain and even struggling to hold Harper.

'She is really down about the whole thing as she just wants to be able to play with her daughter like any new mum.

'When she goes to breastfeed, David has to basically prop-up the baby. But Victoria is trying to remain upbeat because she really does feel so blessed with the birth of her beautiful daughter. She is determined not to let this injury overshadow the happiness surrounding Harper’s arrival.'

Helping out: David Beckham has apparently been assisting Victoria while she rests her injured back

It had been rumoured that Victoria locked herself away in her home in order to try and impose a strict exercise regime to get back in shape for NY Fashion Week next month.

She's due to unveil her new collection at New York Fashion Week on September 11, just two months after the birth of daughter Harper Seven.

According to another source who spoke to the Daily Mail earlier this month: ‘Victoria has locked herself away at her Malibu holiday home where she has imposed a strict food regime.

‘She has instructed her chef to do a no-carb, no-sugar diet of just green vegetables and low-fat proteins.’

It had also been rumoured that she had imposed the 'five hands' diet on herself.

Within days of giving birth to her first baby girl, Victoria Beckham had tweeted her joy about the new addition to the Beckham brood.

She wrote: 'Baby Harper is the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen, I have fallen in love all over again!!! We all feel so blessed and the boys love their baby sister so much!!! X VB.'

Weighing 7lbs, 10oz, Harper arrived at 7:55am on July 10 via caesarean section.

'Victoria and I swap baby tips all the time,' says new mother Emma Bunton as she poses with baby son Tate

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Baby joy: Emma Bunton poses with her new son Tate in this photo from Hello magazine. The Spice Girls star also revealed she and bandmate Victoria Beckham have been swapping baby tips

Emma Bunton has told how she and fellow ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham have been swapping baby tips after becoming mums again just weeks apart.

The 35-year-old - once known as Baby Spice - gave birth to Tate Lee Jones in May.
‘As soon as we can possibly meet up, we will. But for the moment we’re making do with emails,’ Miss Bunton told Hello! magazine.

The full interview appears in this week's Hello!

The singer lives in the UK while Mrs Beckham had her fourth child, daughter Harper Seven, two weeks ago in Los Angeles.

‘We’ve been swapping bits of advice and photos and sharing our excitement,’ added Miss Bunton, who also has a three-year-old son, Beau, with partner Jade Jones, 32.
The Dancing On Ice judge said she shares a strong bond with her former band mates – especially now they are all mothers.

‘The first bouquets through the door were from Victoria, Geri (Halliwell) and Mel C. They came with little notes and that is always special to me, to get those from the girls.

'The relationship we girls have will always be special. Now our kids are friends too and as they grow, it will be wonderful to watch them all and the different stages in their lives.'

Spice network: Victoria has just given birth to daughter Harper, and Emma said she is looking forward to seeing their children grow up together

Miss Bunton gave birth to Tate at London's Portland Hospital on May 6 and said she and Jones both sobbed when they held the 7lb bundle.

She said: 'Mum was busy snapping away with her camera and there is one shot of the three of us: Tate is in my arms and I have tears pouring down my face, Jade is kissing me and he's streaming with tears. It was very emotional!'

After originally announcing her pregnancy last November, the Dancing On Ice judge revealed in February she was expecting another boy with Jones.

And in January, the couple revealed they were engaged after 11 years together.

Friends forever: Emma revealed the girls are still close friends and see each other as often as they can

Miss Bunton has previously spoken of her fears she would never conceive after being diagnosed with endometriosis when she was 25.

She said while pregnant with Beau: 'I remember the doctor saying at the time, "Fifty per cent of women with endometriosis go on to have children." I thought, "Only 50 per cent..." It scared the life out of me. I was frightened.

'I've been so worried for such a long time that I might not be able to be a mum.'

The full interview is in the new edition of Hello! magazine, out now.

Pregnant Alicia Douvall recreates Victoria Beckham's beach pose as she insists she'll be back to a size eight SIX WEEKS after giving birth

By Sarah Bull

Pregnant and proud: Alicia Douvall recreates Victoria Beckham's now famous pose in a new shoot with Closer magazine

Pregnant Alicia Douvall has recreated Victoria Beckham's now infamous beachside pose in a new magazine photoshoot.

The former glamour model, who is four months pregnant with her second child, dons a black bikini top and skirt to pay homage to the picture of Victoria which was posted on Facebook by her husband David.

But while Alicia, who is also mother to 16-year-old Georgia, proudly bares her bump in the shoot, she admitted in the accompanying interview with Closer magazine that she is finding it difficult getting used to her changing body.

The original: David posted a picture of wife Victoria having a rest on the beach before she gave birth to daughter Harper Seven

She said: 'I hate getting fat but I have to accept my body hang-ups – that it’s all part and parcel of being pregnant.

'The worst part was losing my six-pack, which I’d carefully maintained by doing 100 sit-ups a day, but at least I’ve now got 32H boobs. They’re incredible!'

And the blonde star has already planned exactly how she is going to lose her pregnancy weight after giving birth.

Alicia told Closer she is planning to get her figure back just six weeks after her scheduled Caesarean section in December.

She insisted: 'I want to be at my target weight of 7st and a size 8 within six weeks.
'I’m going to exercise every day for an hour with a personal trainer and go on a smoothie diet.'

Alicia has vowed never to name the father of her baby, who she says is 'in the public eye', but says she thinks it's 'disgusting' she has been left to raise her baby alone.

She said: 'The worst thing a man can do is to leave a woman to raise their baby alone. Children need a father figure in their lives and I find it disgusting that men can do that.

'I already picked the worst a***hole in the world for Georgia’s father because he never wanted to know and now I don’t know whether this father will take a role in our baby’s life.

'We’ve been in a secret relationship for the past three years and I’m totally in love with him but it’s complicated.

After being a single parent with Georgia, I swore I’d do it right the next time round. I dreamed of having a husband who held my hand through the birth and was there for the baby. Now I can’t believe it’s happened again. I think: "Is it something I’ve done?" '

Alicia also told the magazine she won't be having any more plastic surgery, after going to rehab twice for plastic surgery addiction and having countless cosmetic procedures.

She said: 'Plastic surgery hasn’t made me look any better and I’m not doing it any more. I’ve changed my lifestyle - I eat organic, vegetarian food and take care of my skin. I don’t go out clubbing any more, I don’t drink or smoke. I’m not the same person.'

Pretty in pink: Alicia was spotted on a night out in London last month looking pretty in an asymmetric peach dress

'My two girls sleeping': David Beckham takes intimate photograph of Victoria and baby Harper

By Sarah Bull

He said earlier this week he is learning to be more 'delicate' with new daughter Harper Seven after having three sons with wife Victoria Beckham.

But David is clearly smitten with her little girl and couldn't resist taking an intimate snap of Victoria and their baby daughter as they slept.

Posting the touching photograph to his Facebook page David gushed: 'I took this picture of my two girls sleeping...'

Having a nap: David later posted a picture of Victoria with Harper on his Facebook page

A similar picture was posted by Victoria on Twitter and the footballer couldn't look any more tender as he cradles his daughter.

Victoria posted the picture on her Twitter page with the caption: 'Daddy's little girl!'

In the shot, David is seen touching noses with his little girl, who is wrapped up in a blanket and wearing a little hat.

Yesterday David showed his joy over the arrival of the pair's first daughter when he took to the football pitch with Harper's name stitched on his football boots.

Daddy's little girl: Victoria Beckham has posted the first picture of husband David with their new daughter Harper Seven

New look: Becks took to the pitch last night for a game with his team LA Galaxy against Real Madrid

Pride and joy: Beckham has had new daughter Harper's name added to his boots

In addition to the names of Beckham's three sons with wife Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, the boots have now been embroidered with the name of the couple's new daughter, Harper.

Beckham also went for the colour pink for the boots to highlight his joy at having a little girl to add to his brood.

Accompanying a picture of the boots on his Facebook site, Beckham wrote: 'Check out my boots for the Real Madrid match. A little extra stitching needed from now on....'

And despite the fact that LA Galaxy lost to Real Madrid 4-1, nothing could dampen Beckham's spirits as he headed home after the match.

Beckham spoke earlier this week about little Harper, admitting he and Victoria had decided on the unusual moniker after the former Spice Girl's favourite author, To Kill A Mockingbird's Harper Lee.

Excited: Beckham, who has become a father for the fourth time, certainly seemed in good spirits as he played

Hugs for everybody! David hugs Real Madrid's Marcelo Vieira after the match

In a series of videos posted on his official Facebook page, the 36-year-old sportsman spoke of his joy as becoming a father for the fourth time.

He said: 'A lot of thought goes into our children's names and Harper was a name that we've loved for a long time for a couple of reasons.

'One reason is Harper's an old English name which we loved and one of the other reasons was Victoria's favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee. It's a very strong, passionate book. That's where Harper came from.

Gearing up: David was seen in training the day before the friendly game

Growing brood: The footballer's three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, accompanied him at training

'To have another girl in the family is really incredible. We've got three beautiful healthy boys already and we're so lucky to have that and now to have a beautiful little girl.

'Having a daughter is a whole new thing. Having pink in the house, having lilac in the house... and you have to be a lot more delicate with girls than boys and I'm not used to that so it's a whole new experience.'

Beckham's online video comes a day after his wife spoke of her joy as becoming a mother to little Harper.

Delighted: Beckham and wife Victoria have both expressed their delight over the new addition to their family

The ex-Spice Girl delivered the 7lbs, 10oz baby at 7:55am last Sunday morning via caesarean section.

She Tweeted: 'Baby Harper is the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen, I have fallen in love all over again!!!

'We all feel so blessed and the boys love their baby sister so much!!! X VB.'

Posh's Twitter plug for £27 stretch mark lotion... that she gets sent for free

By Lara Gould

Victoria's secret: Victoria Beckham has revealed what keeps her blooming through each pregnancy

Until now, Victoria Beckham has remained tight-lipped about the impending arrival of her fourth child.

But with just over a month to go until the former Spice Girl gives birth to her first daughter, she has suddenly become keen to share the secrets of her blooming appearance - by plugging a £27.60 pot of stretch-mark lotion on Twitter.

Victoria, who is due to give birth by caesarean section on July 4, told her 1.2 million followers on the social media site last week: ‘Pregnancy tip!!!! I have used this through every pregnancy, it’s amazing!! X VB.’

And just in case any of her fans were in doubt about which product she was recommending, the wife of former England captain David Beckham added a picture of a bottle of Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil.

Elemis has been quick to take advantage of the situation. On its website, the firm acknowledges the plug and even includes a link under the words: ‘Victoria Beckham loves this product - read her Tweet here.’

The company confirmed it had been sending the 37-year-old singer-turned-fashion designer free bottles of the lotion for nearly a decade but insisted it hadn’t paid Victoria for her endorsement.

If she had received payment for the plug, Victoria would have broken strict Office of Fair Trading guidelines.

In Britain, anyone can give their backing to a product online but they must make it clear if they have been paid to do so, or received a payment in kind.

Endorsement: The former Spice Girl revealed her liking for the Elemis Japanese Camelia Oil via her Twitter page

This is in contrast to the United States where the endorsement trend on Twitter is well-established. Some celebrities have received thousands of dollars for recommending certain products to their followers.

Elemis spokeswoman Eirinn Fuller said: ‘Victoria is not working for us. Anything she says is down to her. We sent her the products. She didn’t pay. They were free, but there’s no agreement. No contract.’

However, such a high-profile endorsement is likely to send sales of
the lotion soaring in the future.

Camellia, which is described as the ‘traditional hair and beauty secret of Japan’, is a powerful moisturiser which is thought to combat stretch marks in pregnant women. Elemis also says it can give women a ‘healthy glow’.
