Where's the rest of your dress? Katy Perry stepped out in Los Angeles wearing an attention-grabbing tassel dress



Many celebrities in Los Angeles complain that they can't get any privacy from photographers.



But, as Katy Perry stepped out in Hollywood yesterday, she certainly appeared to be attempting to draw attention to herself.



The 26-year-old singer teamed her newly-dyed bright pink hair with a barely-there tassel dress, which showed off her slim figure.





Letting off some steam: Katy visited the Six Flags Great America theme park earlier this week and certainly appeared to be enjoying the Vertical Velocity ride





However, despite her attention-grabbing outfit, Katy seemed less than happy as she spotted paparazzi, hiding her face behind her purse as she picked up some crisps from a petrol station.



Katy teamed her dress, which was incredibly short, with a pair of blue sunglasses, flip-flops and coloured bangles.



It's been a busy few weeks for Katy, who has been travelling around America with her California Dreams tour.

Katy, who is a natural blonde, has spent years maintaining her hair as a dark brunette, even dyeing her eyebrows and eyelashes to match.



But earlier this month she sported a strawberry blonde colour after deciding she wanted to change her dark hair to a lighter blonde shade.



However, Katy was told by hairdressers the process would have to be done in two stages, but the singer hasn't exactly been thrilled with her various looks.



She wrote last month: 'So I didn't get to the exact color (sic) I wanted from being black for so long! 2get to goal I have 2b GINGER for 3WKS.



'If I don't wait 3wks, I'll end up w/no hair or a #pixie90scutw/abarretteinthefront It's okay, I'll get to my secret color(s) soon! #patience.'

'I'm so grateful my husband Russell Brand is clean and sober,' says Katy Perry in wake of Amy Winehouse's death

Pop star Katy Perry says Amy Winehouse's death has made her even more grateful for husband Russell Brand staying sober.

Brand, himself a recovering drug addict, took to Twitter over the weekend to laud his late friend as a 'f***ing genius' following her death in London on Saturday.

And Perry says the death puts into perspective Brand's efforts to stay clean and away from drugs.


'My heart felt really sad,' Perry said on Good Morning America about hearing of Winehouse's death.

'My husband, who has been clean and sober for almost nine years, you know, I see him working a program and working on himself every single day.

'And I see how much work it takes to be clean and sober when you have, you know, addiction on your hands.

'It gave me a real a gratefulness for my husband, who got clean when he was 27.

'I feel really sad and I just hope she finds peace.'

Brand paid a lengthy written tribute to Winehouse yesterday, saying addiction should be treated as a potentially fatal disease.

He met her on the Camden pub scene a number of years ago, and said at first he thought she was 'just some twit in a pink satin jacket shuffling round bars'.

He said when he spoke to her she was 'sweet and peculiar but most of all vulnerable'.

By chance Brand saw her perform with Paul Weller at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London, and had an epiphany.

In the piece posted on his website he wrote: 'Entering the space I saw Amy on stage with Weller and his band; and then the awe. The awe that envelops when witnessing a genius. From her oddly dainty presence that voice, a voice that seemed not to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie and Ella, from the font of all greatness.

'That twerp, all eyeliner and lager dithering up Chalk Farm Road under a back-combed barnet, the lips that I'd only seen clenching a fishwife fag and dribbling curses now a portal for this holy sound.'

Brand has given frank accounts of his battle to overcome drug addiction, and said loved ones will always fear getting a phone call with the worst news possible.

At the time he met Winehouse, he himself had not yet got clean, and he said: 'Winehouse and I shared an affliction, the disease of addiction.'

In the piece Brand accused the media of being more interested in 'tragedy than talent', and therefore said they focused more on her personal battles than her musical career.

He went on: 'Addiction is a serious disease; it will end with jail, mental institutions or death.

'Now Amy Winehouse is dead, like many others whose unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively romanticised, at 27 years old. Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today.

'We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease. Not all addicts have Amy's incredible talent. Or Kurt's (Cobain) or Jimi's (Hendrix) or Janis's (Joplin), some people just get the affliction. All we can do is adapt the way we view this condition, not as a crime or a romantic affectation but as a disease that will kill.'

But after a recent report claiming the couple were trying a trial separation, Katy has hit out, insisting that her marriage of just eight months is just fine.

The 26-year-old, who married the 36-year-old actor in a ceremony in India in October last year, said that just because the couple kept their relationship private, it didn't mean there was trouble in paradise.

Taking to her Twitter page to put the rumours to rest, she wrote: 'Just cause we don't flaunt our relationship doesn't mean there's something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury. #tabloidsrtrash #gossipisgross.'

She had earlier tweeted how 'sad' she was feeling after her husband Russell Brand was deported from Japan.

But Katy Perry seemed determined to show him what he was missing as she strolled through Tokyo train station later in the day.

The 26-year-old singer pulled out all the stops in a black and white checked suspender skirt, black stockings and platform heels.

Brand had earlier tried to see the funny side of his situation as he was held at Tokyo airport.

Russell, a self-confessed former heroin addict, was arrested in 2001 charged with criminal damage and indecent exposure when he stripped naked while covering the May Day protests for MTV, the charges were later dropped.

The comedian, who has been arrested 12 times, was arrested on suspected battery charges after he allegedly attacked a photographer who was taking pictures of Perry last year, he was released after posting $20,000 bail.

Katy Perry chose a very imaginative way to highlight her dangerous curves last night.

The 26-year-old lit up the stage of American Idol in a figure hugging LED space-age bodysuit for the reality show's results night.

Performing her hit song E.T., the singer warbled her way through the pop song as she was surrounded by dancers dressed in alien-inspired body suits.

Katy's complexion was heavily caked with futuristic make-up to complement the theme.

She was later accompanied by rapper Kanye West who surprised the studio audience by joining the singer on stage for a duet.

The single version of the song features vocals by Kanye, who also appears in it's Floria Sigismondi-directed music video.

Her performance in Los Angeles last night comes just days after Katy was catching up on lost time with husband Russell Brand as they put on a passionate show for photographers at the London premiere of his film Arthur.

Katy has made a huge effort to take time out to her see her husband while she continues her tour.

She made it clear before she left for her world travels that she would be making plenty of visits home to see the British funnyman.

The pop star says that her husband is the top of her priority list and she has even begun to feel a connection with British fans because of him.
